Non-Aligned Movement

A non-aligned party is a group of 120 developed countries not officially affiliated with any global power bloc or with them.

This contributed to the first Heads of State or Non-Aligned Nation Policy Meeting.

First occurs in the Fifth Conference of 1976 the word ‘non-aligned movement,’ which describes the participating countries as members of the party.

Fidel Castro’s 1979 Havana Declaration laid forth the goal of the movement, in its fight with capitalism, colonial, neo-colonialism, apartheid, and every sort of international invasion, colonization, conquest, intervention, or supremacy, as well as a considerable provocation, to ensure the national freedom, autonomy, territorial integrity and security of non-aligned countries.

Nearly two-thirds of the countries of the Non-Aligned Groups constitute 55% of the population of the world.

The membership is concentrated particularly in emerging or Third World countries, although several developed nations are still involved in the Non-Aligned Movement.

Although a large number of the members of the non-aligned movements were, in fact, in close harmony with one superpower, the movement remained unchanged over the entire Cold War, despite several conflicting members who also put the movement at risk.

It has concentrated on building multilateral relations and links, as well as on the solidarity between the developed countries of the world in particular within the global South in the years after the Cold Wars ended.

POLICIES AND IDEOLOGY

The non-aligned movement is unified by its declared commitment to global peace and security with many governments with vastly different ideologies.

The movement was described as the most important peace movement in history at the 7th summit in New Delhi in March 1983. This latter initiative, which was created in 1975 and later turned into a NAM News Network in 2005, is a non-aligned initiative for communications cooperation, the Non-Aligned News Agencies Pool.

The Non-Aligned Movement promotes co-operation policies and practices, especially those that are multilateral and mutually beneficial.

Many of the Non-Aligned Coalition leaders are leaders of the UN and South Africa as well.

All organizations’ policies have been stated in peaceful cooperation but the UN governed by the bigger, western, more developed country continues to disregard the successes of NAM by multilateral agreements.

During all of its life, the non-aligned movement has played an important role in several ideological conflicts, including the extreme opposition to apartheid governments and guerrilla groups in several places, including Rhodesia and South Africa.
